Montezuma is an early maturing, high tillering spring oat. It has the earliest maturity of all California oats and produces fantastic yield. It has a desirable bushel weight averaging 36.8 lb/bu and plump kernels averaging 35.6 mg. The fine stems and leafy appearance help produce good quality forage; it is especially popular for use with horses. Montezuma also retains a good resistance to shattering.
